Seven Reasons to Eat Your Greens

There are seven great reasons to eat your greens. Eating greens can easily be one of the best ways to increase our energy.

When it comes to eating more greens, it is never going to be the tastiest thing at first. Greens will definitely be an acquired taste over time but I do believe it will help to start small and build up to eating more. I personally love butterhead lettuce as a beginning green to enjoy. Butterhead lettuce has a light flavor and easy to get used to. It also has a large amount of nutrients and much more than iceberg lettuce.

Dark, leafy greens like broccoli, kale, arugula, Napa cabbage, bok choy and watercress are all greens that you can consume frequently and with any meal. Below are the seven added benefits to eating more greens in your daily diet!

Why eating greens is good for you? There are many reasons but see the list below!

  1. Blood Purification
  2. Cancer Prevention
  3. Improved Circulation
  4. Strengthened Immune System
  5. Promotion of Healthy Intestinal Flora
  6. Improved Liver, Gall Bladder, and Kidney Function
  7. Cleared Congestion in Lungs

Nutritionally, greens are high in calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, and vitamins A, C, and K. They are also guilt free due to their low calories and high fiber content.

Spinach is left off the recommended list due to one main reason. This special leaf is healthy but is actually high in oxalic acid that inhibits the absorption of calcium. Eating these in moderation is the best tip for green healthy eating! If you switch up your greens and are not eating spinach every single day, you shouldn’t worry about your absorption.
